With the ever growing popularity of Linux as a desktop operating system, more and more people are beginning to see it as a usable and valid alternative to proprietary software. Music composition software available on Linux over the last few years has seen a dramatic acceleration in quality and diversity. Coupled with the possibility of obtaining exceptionally low-latencies when using a linux based audio system (sub milisecond with a patched kernel), it is not hard to see the reason for its rise in popularity.
